Residence arts and sciences at the University of Bordeaux in partnership with Sandrine Delord neuropsychologist.

Recognizing an object visually is not as simple as it sounds.

This faculty was learned in childhood and involves several complex processes. We know that the meaning of an object is linked to the observer and not to the object itself. Our brain constructs this meaning, then it reforms the contours of the object and so we see it.

Bleu comme une orange is an "Arts et Sciences" research project of IdEx, proposing to meet the eyes of a visual artist and a psychology researcher on the question of the human vision of the contours and the color of objects. What brings color to the meaning of an object? And in a work of art? How can these dimensions be dissociated?

This encounter between artist and researcher in turn questions the artistic object: its creation, its completion, its ambiguity ... The object allowing here multiple imaginary.

An example from blue and orange tasks.

"Does the color in itself affect the objects I perceive in the tasks? At this term of the experience a sensation is sure, in a monochrome, no fundamental difference with a task in black and white, but in a task that offers a colored contrast, as in the example below, the dialogue between it has an enormous influence on the perception of objects. "In another experiment, I tested whether the format could have a direct influence on my relationship to color or not, and here are charcoals or pastels of 1m50 by 2 or 3m. small formats are the color contrasts that are most influential in the perception of objects. "
